Ugg® Australia boots are not from Australia although the Ugg-style boot originated from Australia. Uggs are sheepskin boots, originally referred to as ug, ugh or ugg boots. Australia was once populated by sheep farmers and ugg boots were a bi-product of the sheep herding industry. The boots actually became popular among surfers in Australia because they were warm and were meant to be worn without socks.
